So, I'm painting the bathrooms this weekend. Well, I started painting them anyway. LOL

Got the guest bath about 2/3 done. Haven't even started the master bath yet. But, I tellya whut, I am NOT good at this blue-collar stuff.

Gonna be a REAL challenge for me when it finally comes time to paint my boats! :D

Hire a painter before you really screw it up, or better yet put your wife in charge of it.

Nahh... I'm a bachelor, so it only has to be "good enough," not great. :D

That may change if I ever get a ladyfriend living here. LMAO!

When it comes to painting rooms I just subconciously vision a women holding a rolling pin arms crossed and foot tapping. Yes I've been married 26 years.

A fella can hope! LMAO!

I'm done touching up where I had light paint yesterday. Pulled the blue tape from some of the areas that I did yesterday. Man, I am definitely not good at this! LOL

Maybe when it comes time to paint my big boat, I'll hire a pro. Heh.

There is only one word that describes the ENTIRE painting process:

PATIENCE

Well since I am a painter I will try to give you some pointers.Tools 1)4x15 dropcloth(might need 2) 2)1/2 or 3/4 lambwools cover empty 5gal bucket roller screen(roller kit) 3) 3inch purdy brush 4)spackle and a spackle knife 5) couple gallons of paint (Bathrooms I like satin)" when doing baths after you are done with the walls put a fan in there to help dry it out".Paint ceiling first (if doing it)than cut in walls top, corners, and at the base than roll it out,if it does not cover repeat the process after walls dry do the trim. With a good brush there should be no need for tape, wipe the area down with a damp cloth and you are good to go_One thing I can say about paint, stay with the big 3, Porter,S.W,or B.M these are in no order these company's sell there own paint all there profits go into making a better paint unlike hardware stores they don't know or do they care anything about paint. In Fla there are some(local) smaller grinds that are good for your region (salt air)(mostly exterior) that would be the only time I would go to a(local) smaller paint store. Look to see where the pros go(the guys in the white shirts and white pants).Hope that helps. :D

Thanks for the great input. However, I've already started the project and am not going to throw away $50 worth of paint in hopes of getting something better. So far, the color I laid down covers well and has worked out okay.

Right now I'm putting on the ceiling white. Yeah, I understand that I got it backwards, but will reverse the steps once I move on to the master bathroom.

I'm NOT good at this manual stuff, so I do have to tape... which brings me to the question of the day.

How long should I wait before removing the blue tape along the edges?

When I waited 2 days (wasn't sure I liked the color) after painting the walls, some of the paint along the edges was well adhered to the blue tape and peeled off when I removed the tape.

Thanks again ya'll!

Okay, I already pulled the tape and will pronounce this one as "good enough" so that I can get outside and work on a boat! LOL! :D

Doesn't look too bad from what I can see. It takes a lot of practice to be a good painter. To paint where the ceiling and walls meet takes the right brush, properly loading the brush, and the right technique. You also need to be able to do it quickly so you're always working with a wet edge. A good painter will make this look easy, but it's not. I've painted every room in my house and I still can't do that part right. Mrs. i386 has that down pretty well though.

You'll get better.

Tape up the windows, outlets, doors, and plumbing. put a couple of cans of paint in the center of the room and drop in a couple of firecrackers.

Remove the tape
