Doesn't look too bad from what I can see. It takes a lot of practice to be a good painter. To paint where the ceiling and walls meet takes the right brush, properly loading the brush, and the right technique. You also need to be able to do it quickly so you're always working with a wet edge. A good painter will make this look easy, but it's not. I've painted every room in my house and I still can't do that part right. Mrs. i386 has that down pretty well though.

You'll get better.

Yeah, my uncle was a professional painter for many years and always made it look easy. I'm just glad that I finished that room and can move on to the next one. :D

Re: Ach! I'm bahd at this.

I've seen worse in some well known motel chains.

Nice job, better than some of the help I have hired in the past. My best painter was 72, used a cane to get around, fallen from over 20' three times, used a small drop cloth, no tape, just a brush, and he was fast. He painted 3 times more than two of the part time summer help I hired. Learning tricks of the trade from old timers like that is better than anything someone can learn in school.

You got that right! I see horrible tile work in hotels/motels too, even the exensive ones.

The job looks good to me BWR. I'm not a painting fan myself but I'm pretty good with rollers and putting up crown molding. My wife is almost an artist when doing the trim work, so we make a pretty good team.

Re: Ach! I'm bahd at this.

The ex wife just hired me to repaint her newer home.......

I have worked for Sherwin Williams out of high school and remembered a lot those ol boys in their white pants, shirts and caps taught me.

I have also maintained my own rental property for years. Always repainted when the tenants left.

Like anything else, you get better with practice.

By the way, if any of those ceilings are popcorn, paint easy, fast and DON'T reroll them when wet, or all that popcorn will end up on your roller or elsewhere!

So far. lookin pretty good.......;)

Ya know, that really stuck in my mind. So, I just went back in and redid the ceiling cut-in line, sanded down a few drips and sags and touched everything up. Drying now.

Now I need to size and cut the trim and baseboard, then paint it all. Should I paint it the same color as the walls or use the flat ceiling white for contrast?

Thanks again fellas for the encouragement!

Well I am guessing that you are done by now I recommend either semi-gloss or a high gloss for the trim

Almost done, actually! Yes, on Friday I did get some semi-gloss white that is very close in color to the ceiling white. Then I sized, cut, cleaned and painted the trim moulding.

Yesterday I went to the Outdoor Expo & Boat Show, so didn't work.

Today I had a date with a blonde. :D

But, I should get the trim put in place tomorrow and will post pix of the completed job once it's all done.

Okay, all done.

I learned a lot from this effort. Didn't LIKE what I learned, but did gain some knowledge! LMAO! :D
