Re: Good News?

There's always good news somewhere. Even in this lousy economy, I actually saw gasoline prices in the $1.33.9 range last winter!

I think half the problem is the media. They promote so much bad news that we forget good things are still happening.

EJ, what business are you in? I've been seeing a number of signs of an improving economy, so I'm always wanting to know what others are experiencing.

Media news reports the worst and most awful stuff they can for the sensationalism it brings. The occasional good and happy story gets very little air time and is easily missed.

Here is an example of the "good news"from yesterday---

On HLN---Only 364,000 workers laid off last month.A definite sign of economic improvement.

At one time there was a Good News Forum. It didn't get enough response and was added into Dockside Chat.

aside from checking out Robin Meade with my cup of coffee in the morning, I pay no attention to the news anymore. I check the weather online.

Its interesting that even when delivering "good" news they choose to headline it in a negative way?

I believe it all has an effect on you psyche. After reading a positive or 'feel good' article my mood in general inproves. Perhaps more uplifting stories could help turn our ecomomy around simply by changing peoples perspective of the world around them.

I have thought about that a few times myself. everyone is scared to spend any money. If they start talking about other stuff will people forget about it and spend a little more?
