are these decent reliable motors? have a opertunity to purchace one with no spark issue compression is 135 on all 3 cylinders lower unit seems to go into gear. Im trouble shooting a 1985 85hp force right now was going to keep for my boat but was thinking I like this johnson better. read alot of horror storys on the force motors and am living it as well. the only other issue with the johnson is the lowerunit needs new propeller

Good motors if they have been properly maintained. May be worth getting a prop and giving it a water test if you can. At least hear it fired up on muffs. If all works out for you then you can use the Force as an anchor !!!
