I have 1989 vro 110hp johnson that periodicly sounds a lack of oil alarm. The primer bulb on the oil side is not always as hard as I think it should be and as soon as I sqweese the bulb the alarm stops. We can cruise along for 15 min. and it will go off again (sometimes) then I sqweese the bulb and it stops. It never happens at WOT. I'm going to change the bulb but have a couple of questions: Is there any difference between a bulb for the gas side and the oil side? The old line feeding the oil is also very long it's coiled up in a circle with a couple of wrap ties. Will this affect it? Should I cut some out? Should I also buy new line? Is the oil line any different than the gas line?
I also checked the screen in the oil tank and everything is very clean.
We don't get out to the lake very often and it's at least an hour drive to the closest lake to test it out so any info would be great.
How long can I run it on muffs to see if what I change has made a diffence?
Going on holidays with the family in two weeks and hoping to prevent a breakdown on the water.
