It pushes out a good stream at low speeds.
above 15 mph it turns into drops at best.
Is this normal or should i be looking at other issues?
The motor is a 85 hp.
thanks

That's not normal. When was the last time the impeller was changed?

very normal. water comes out the exhaust ports at low speed & thru the prop at high speed. you can connect a "telltale" line if you want to see water spray at high speed. (look at above sticky "adding a telltale".

Change impeller every two years. Look at that sticky as well..welcome to iboats.

I would be concerned if I didn't have any water out the upper exhaust ports at high speed...

I have to agree with Dave. but as far as the impeller condition goes, my motto has always been "When in Doubt...Change it out!" it is much to simple/inexpensive a repair to take a chance.

You should always know when the last time your impeller was changed and, if operating in salt, change it every other season, if fresh, every third season. For lack of changing this $26 impeller many engines are destroyed.

That said, the holes on the back of the Force engine leg are for relief when starting and idling. Once you start pulling power, most of your exhaust and water goes out the snout.

If you want to monitor the water pump output, add a tell tail to the engine. The sticky at the beginning of this forum tells how to do it.
