What do you think of the Fold Away Trailer Hinges from Fulton for a 17 ft. older boat that weighs about 1800 lbs?

IMO, if it means the difference between getting the boat in your garage or not, then they are a very good option. They are not very costly and should work well. As tashasdaddy said the weight capacity specs are clearly spelled out and if I remember right are good up to a 5000 pound load. You should be fine. They do require welding though.

I actually almost put one on my previous boat, but then moved to a new house and had a 40' x 54' pole barn built and have no need for it anymore.

Have the Fulton Fold-Away tongue on two trailers, one for 14' boat and other for 16' boat. Work great and they don't require welding to install. Just a drill motor, good 1/2" bit, wrenches, and a hack saw or sawzall. Replace the latch pin with Fulton 1/2" diameter hitch lock and you can lock the tongue open to deter theft (can't tow very well with tongue swinging back and forth) ;)
