When towing a skier, my engine bogs significantly if I hammer the throttle from idle to full. I've always been able to pop a skier out this way on other boats but now that I own my own boat, the only way I can get on plane is by easing the throttle up. Is this a relatively common problem that I can solve with some carb cleaner, or do I need to do some heavy maintenance? My engine year is 1987 and everything is stock except a new alternator. The carb is a two barrel.
