I found a nice old, well maintained, tri-hull for sale powered by a 1972 Merc 115. No problems, etc. HOWEVER, the motor does not have a power tilt. I live on the water (salt) and the boat would stay in the water all season. However, my concern is how to keep the lower end out of the water when not in use. I am not familar with Merc outboards of this vintage, but assume I can not manually tilt it back and lock it in place because of its size.

My current boat a '67 Dixie tri-hull with original '67 Johnson 33hp ...no need for a "power tilt" there!:D

Any ideas would be appreciate.

thank you,
Ted

There should be 2 small "rockers" on either side to hold it up for travel.

The rockers look like dog eared shaped pieces of metal. Put motor in forward, pull it up and turn the tilt lock down to hold it. The bottom right picture shows the tilt lock being used.

I will be able to pull this motor up with help? Hate to sound so stupid.

You will be able to do it yourself. Pull firmly on the rear cowling handle. The motor is made to resist upward pressure, so expect it to be slow to move.
