thanks popeye, yes I have, they only have access to original parts...many are NLA. I have some of the orig part #'s and think I will try Delta Marine in Columbus Ohio again. Mick was very helpfull and sent accurate pictures of the manifold in question. Hope to hear from machine shop 7/15/09 re: the valve problem. Have a welder lined up to tig manifold based on valve situation. The manifold has 5 plates plus exhaust elbow. anyway thanks for the reply! Greg

A good auto parts store like Napa or CarQuest will have gasket material. Try to find flat sheets as the rolled stuff is a pain since it wants to curl up.

A ball peen hammer is your friend for making gaskets, position gasket material over part and tap around the machined edges to cut through the gasket material.

thanks fishrdan, i found soaking plate and gasket in water overnight allowed pretty good intact removal ( using razor blade scraper)for transfer to new material, have about 5 more to do on aluminum 5/16" bolt manifold... also found out I may have been able to switch heads and use updated manifold, head rework already in progress though.

Gotcha,... But I don't see the Question,... It sounds like the OP has it under control....

Btw,... Updating it would have been the Easier route to go....

Ayuh,... Not that there won't be a few obstacles to overcome,...
You should be able to swap the Complete intake/ exhaust Manifolds,+ riser from a 120/ 140 up to around the Late 70s...

Re: engine trouble 1965 110 hp chevy mercruiser

Have any pics of your head, manifold and exhaust elbow? From what I've seen there are 3 different head configurations used on the 4cyl GM marine engines, 1 with 2 combined exhaust ports instead of 4 separate exhaust ports, 1 with large intake and exhaust ports, latest version had small intake ports for fast intake velocity.

Your obstacles will be matching up the head/manifold port configurations and anchor points for the linkages, also check the carb bolt pattern as the newer Mercarb has a wider bolt pattern than the old Rochester 2bbl carb.

Re: engine trouble 1965 110 hp chevy mercruiser

guys, valve adjusting question. when adjusting the valves on the 110hp chevy 4 cylinder the forum here says to remove all end play at the valve and push rod and then go 3/4 turn tighter. the clymer manual says remove end play at the push rod but then that zero end play means you cant rotate push rod! then go 3/4 turn. I have zero end play (lash) and went 3/4 turn but i could rotate push rod prior to the 3/4 turn. want to make sure i get it right which is correct? thanks
