Does anyone make a trailerable twin engine inboard boat and trailer?

Just curious, I've seen single engine inboards with trailers but I've never heard of a twin engine inboard boat.

When I say trailerable, I mean having a 8.5' or smaller beam boat that can easily go onto a road legal trailer towed behind a pickup.

our boat is 30 foot overall 10 foot on beam twin 260 mercs, 7200 dry weight
we pull a wideload permit, $30 per month. and drag it behind a f350 super duty 7.3 deisel (when its insured) or an f250 7.3 diesel, not so much fun.
add 125 gallons fuel and 26 gallons pottable water 20 gallons beer and 10 gallons rum and coke, plus food and snacks clothes etc and we are around 9000 pounds per weekend.
yes they do make twins in bigger boats;)
but you wouldnt want to haul one
picture to follow, over

When you say inboards, do you mean I/O? If you're talking straight inboards, none that I'm aware of. If you're talking about I/O's, there's lots of trailerable (8'6" beam) twin engine cruisers out there. I think 27' is about as big as they go in what I consider cruisers. The Sea Ray 270 has had twin 4.3L's as an option for a long time. I know Four Winns, Formula, Larson, and Regal all have something similar, probably all the other major manufactureres (Bayliner, Monterey, etc) do also.

They're easy to haul with a 3/4 ton tow vehicle.

If you consider the "go-fast" cigarette-type boats cruisers, then Fountain, Donzi, etc go up to 42' I think with options for 2 or 3 motors in an 8'6" beam.

sure but most would be special order. i doubt you will find any trailer dealer with one in stock, as they are not a fast moving item.

Not sure about new ones, you're WAY out of my price range there. But there's a bunch of used ones (10-15 years old, $10,000-$20,000) on Iboats, Craigslist, ABLboats, Usedboats.com, etc. The 27' long, 8'6" beam (widest legal trailerable without a permit) seem to be split about 2/3 with a single big block and 1/3 with twins. I just bought a 30' Sea Ray with twin 5.7's (trailerable in Louisiana with a $10/month recreational wide load permit) because it was so cheap I couldn't pass it up.

Go diesel and you don't need twins on an 8' beam.

C'mon! There's at least 6 inches between the manifolds on that.
Try twin big blocks on an 8ft beam.:D

Re: Does anyone make a trailerable twin engine inboard boat and trailer?

I currently have a twin Chevy 350 I/O 28' boat, but I was wondering if they made a straight inboard that can be trailerable without a special permit. I'd really like a twin diesel Inboard that can be trailered. I guess if I were to get a twin diesel Inboard I really wouldn't need a trailer though. I hear diesel inboards can don't have the same reliability problems as a gasoline I/O that stays in the water.

Wow, I thought my twin was tight! It's actually pretty easy to change all 16 plugs on my boat.

I stand corrected.:(

Once again, I am led to believe that has to be a large market out there for contortionist, midget, marine mechanics.:p

plugs are actually easy, you should try the oil filter (need to remote those) or the starter!

rs2K, nice boat... looks almost identicle to my 88 IMP 270 Liberty. Mine only has twin 3.7s and they are jammed in there tight. I couldn't imagine fitting twin V8s in there, with the way the motors are now. Boat must fly though, the PO of my boat claimed 45 mph on a GPS, with twin 180-190 hp motors...

My neighbor actually has a Cruiser Inc 33 express (12+ beam) with twin inboards he tows every season. Sure the trailer is probably custom, but he does it twice a year.

Regal 2660. Not a current model, but they are out there. 8.5" wide, available with twin 4.3V6s. I towed one from Lakeland, FL to Daytona Beach and back behind a 1997 2500 Suburban with a 5.7V8.

Re: Does anyone make a trailerable twin engine inboard boat and trailer?

So there seems to be some misunderstandings here... The OP seems to be looking for a twin Inboard engine trailerable boat, not a twin Inboard/Outboard. The ones posted are all I/O boats, not straight or V-drive Inboards. A single vs twin I/O boat makes no difference on a trailer, but having twin Inboards would most likely change the location of rollers, bunks, supports, etc...

I want to say, look for an older 28' or so Donzi. A late 60s version I believe was equipped with twin V-drives or possibly straight drives. I will do a little research and post back what I find!

Found a few... Apparently the late 60's, 28' Donzi's were inboards. I don't have photos of ones on a trailer, but here is a stern shot. Don't ask me how I knew this... just remembered from random searching in the past.
