Intake manifold gasket removal?

I am replacing the gasket on my intake mani. I am wondering the old one is really stuck on there, do I need to get every little speck of the old gasket off and down to the nice shiny mashined edge? I took a razor scraper and got 97% of it off, and it is nice and smooth. Is that good enough?
Thanks

when you rach 100% then your done.
If you leave it one there then what was the point of doing the job.

As i read on someones Signature
"Why is there never enought time to do the job right the fist time, but there is always time to do it again?"

How would you remove the last 64th of an inch of the gasket? It is only on certain parts of the gasket area that remains....?

ive used emery cloth with no problems. but do get it all off so it wont have a spot to leak, lean fuel mix not worth the risk in my book ;)

Razor blades. Get some gasket remover spray to make you job easier.

I did get some gasket remover and emery cloth, it is working great now! Although it is scrathing the surface a bit, very minor scrathing. That ok? I did pick up some spray adhesive for the gaskets, the guy told me it would fill in any small imperfections. He said it worked great on his gaskets when he rebuilt his engine.

Ayuh,... It's gotta be 110% Clean..... 'n Flat....
Try a Scotch Brite Pad instead of emery,... It's not quite as aggressive...
Or use finer emery....

I use a scotch brite pad on an air tool....they have those at almost all local home depot stores and Menards and Lowes...in the drill bit sections...you can use it in a drill to...cleans the surface very well...
