Azlo bro..man that support rocks.
Nobody else (that I have seen) has done that to that extent..
That white paint really looks sharp too..I know exactly how you feel looking at it..What a difference huh?
When I did mine (in Rusty white) I was all WOW!!!! It is 100% better! Great return on a small time and paint investment!

I look forward to seeing ya finish her..

p.s. Deck looks great too

Thanks Fellas but I get frustrated that i have to redo some the stuff. I dont think I have ever gotten so frustrated. I go to bed thinking how am I gonna make it work, not to mention the un-nessesary money spending. But then, usually, a solution pops up.

Your subconscious will find a solution even when you are not thinking about it. I used to be a computer programmer and I would come up with solutions when I was driving home, watching a movie, etc.

Keep up the good work.

Re: 1968 Holiday Restoration w/pics

Finally got my steering wheel and gauges. I went ahead and installed a wooden dash to mock up. I have decided to use vinyl and foam the dash after epoxy.

Total of 7 gauges and nine switches to install.

I dont know if I should install back the windshield now.

Nice clean dash. I'm thinking I may do the same and can organize guages, accessories, radio, switches.

I think I may try to have something made in Alum and have it painted to match the boat.

I was thinking of using diamond plate as a dashboard and then a beam across the hood. But i need to make deadline and its too expensive and time consuming. I can always comeback and redo it. I just want to make deadline this summer. My goal was no wood except the floor & transom.

Azlo,
I like the wheel. The boat is coming along nicely. Like you stated, you can always revisit the dash later.
Great work.

I'm going to temporarily re-wire up my original dash and just get out there as well. My redo of the dash will be after I get some use out of it :)

Looking good man, coming together nicely! I like your steering wheel, I was thinking something similar for my rig.

Cheers!

Thats a 15 1/2 steering wheel . But im thinking of a smaller like a 14 in. and maybe a deeper dish. But I like this style. Also gonna put a top mount twin lever engine control.

Re: 1968 Holiday Restoration w/pics

Sorry for the delay in posting pics, but i have been doing minor cutting and grinding that I dont think they are worth pics. but with that said heres what i been doing.

MAH002731.jpg

I got my dash & went ahead & cut & drill my holes for gauges.

MAH002732.jpg

Oil gauge & then the rpms.

MAH002733.jpg

Like I said before Im gonna get vinyl to cover the dash and im gonna try these switches.

MAH002752.jpg

White and blue i think will look good, maybe i should also get blue bezels for the gauges?
I have been looking at the free section of craigslist for plastics & pvcs. Believe it or not they do have some good stuff that one could use for boating. Im just being picky and just looking at the ones close by.

Re: 1968 Holiday Restoration w/pics

Haven't really had chance to work on the boat, been getting tools and supplies. I put the dash back to measure the steering cable, wish I realized that i needed the transom plate on the transom to be accurate. I didn't want my new transom getting greased up by the dirty transom plate.

MAH002853.jpg

So went ahead and bought a parts washer, a sand blaster and then a compressor!

MAH002831.jpg

Yes had a tool fever weekend. So had to set everything up and then had a chance to clean my transom bell and sandblast a part just to see how it would look.

MAH002862.jpg

Used glass bead 80 grit, took the paint right off. I have to say that I love it.

MAH002871.jpg

I might do same thing to the rest of the plate and then primer and paint.....or maybe if smooth enough just leave aluminum bare ans seal it.

Nice work. It would be a shame to have that equipment sit idle. I've got a bunch of parts I could send down for the same treatment. :)

Yah, tools are good! As long as you are doing up sprints stuff I could send a few items your way!
