The second one is not a Jupiter. Jupiter has five rows of aluminum and that second one only has four. I am going to guess it is 14' Holiday.

The description is calling it a 15' runabout. Here's a picture of the back if if helps?

That guy did a nice job on that boat and it will move real well with that motor.

I hope so! It looks like he did a lot of upgrades and effort into restoration work, and he's not asking much for the boat, it's actually only half of what I had intended to spend on a new boat. I am viewing it tomorrow. I've had some people describe their boats as excellent, and when I showed up it was a waterlogged, half rotted, barely running POS that was dirty and disgusting =/.

I hope it turns out good and the pics are recent! Then I can join the Starcraft owners club lol.

I may be going to buy it tonight.... the guy won't let me test ride so I'm afraid he's covering something up. I can hear it run though. What should I do?

Have him drive it. Make sure the gears work. Ask him why he won't let you try it?
good luck.

He won't drive it either. I think he might be willing put the motor into a bucket and shift into gear. He says he's selling the boat cheap so that he won't have to deal with that hassle. He wants 1500.
I'm worried he's trying to cover up something like that the motor won't go into gear, dies under load, there's hundreds of lbs of waterlogged foam under the decks, leaks/pitting etc.

In this case there should be two prices...one price for "as is with no test run or running in a bucket" and one price for a test driven package that gives you reassurance of your purchase.

The first price should be 1/3 less than the second;)

If he tested it how much does he think it's worth I wonder? More than $1500? I don't think it'll sell for that.

Good luck to you:)

Haha, so should I offer him 1000 and try to inspect closely? Worst case scenario.. I'd just end up on here for help? Any idea of what I should look for if I'm not going to test ride? I'd be viewing it at 5.30 tonight if I go.

take $500 cash and that is in 20's. Wave it at him and say that's all I am going to give you.
If he says no, walk.
There will be another tinboat down the line.

Erik that boat looks mighty clean to have to many issues he may just not want to deal with the hassle of taking it out and putting it in the water . I would say if it starts and runs ok in a barrel your probably ok it looks like he has it stored with the Bow up so I dont think water logged foam is an issue .

Rick

rick, mine was stored bow up and it was still water logged. just sayin...

No test drive = no sale.

that depends on the situation. i bought mine for 4 bills without even trying to start it (no key) and no paperwork. i spent the first 3 nights sleepless thinking it might be stolen...

it all was well.

IMO, anything under $1000 is going to be a project boat, so test driving isnt really an issue.

That first boat is a STUEREY. Says it right on the side of the boat..Unless Starcraft had a different spelling back in the day..
