Nice post Jay, have fun with the ski! Very innovative on the lake fixes! I did see a guy make a head gasket out of a 12 pack carton one time....that is hard to beat, lol!

Now that is what I call redneck engineering.

The ski is cool, but the boat is better. I really is for guests that go to the lake with us. I will let them drive it, but NO ONE touches the boat!

That's pretty cool of you. I'd love that if I were a guest. But you'll have loads of fun with it. Are your kids going to use it?

I let my 8 year old daughter drive my boat today while sitting in my lap, she had a really great time.

As long as people respect it, they are welcome to use it.

Of course the kids get to use it. They both sat in front of me on the ski and drove it themselves. I was alone on the thing for about 15 minutes yesterday, and the rest of the time I had a kid with me. The same goes for the boat. Every outing the sit in my lap and drive. Zachary is a little older so I stand behind him and monitor.

This is how I learned boating safety and driving skills when I was younger.

Pretty cool. I'm sure you's kids love you for it. That's how I learned when I was kid, my dad is awesome! He's a well respected boater around here, he's an advanced sailing instructor, he used to race sailboats allot, and is qualified to skipper up to 100tons I think for power boats, he's forgotten more then I'll ever know, and that's no exaggeration.

Jay, you need to talk to my friend Brian about that polaris. He has 6 old Polaris and 3 are now running with engines he rebuilt himself. He also has that same hull you have but is putting a 1200 motor in it (4th ski).

It is a good idea to run compression checks often and make sure the carbs are working properly to prevent burning the motor up.

Good Point. A leak down test, and compression test will tell you all you need to know about the motor. 2 stroke is a whole new animal, but very very fun! I enjoy the powerband. An Air leak is the two stroke's worst enemy, and will blow up your engine faster than a worn out piston.

Oh, I guess it sold. It was a 1980 Glasstron 19' exactly the same color as yours. Wasn't an SX though, can't remember what it was.

I have been bad and not keeping up with the forums. To be honest we have been at the lake or working everyday. I am rockin a great tan and we have put about 5 hours on the boat in the past couple of weeks. One of our friends that has a 26' Crownline met us last weekend and we tied up and had a great time. I need to remember to take some pictures and get them posted. We are going out again tomorrow and I hope to get alot then.

Although we've enjoyed your thread immensly, we expect you to be out having fun, not hanging out here with all of us slowpokes who didn't get our boats done in time for summer. But, I must say, 5 hours sounds like enough for 1 good day at the lake to me.:D I sure enjoy your pics and vids when you have time.

Hello all. I thought I would post some pictures of the festivities from the lake, and give you an update. We have been enjoying the boat like you would not believe, and we have been at the lake as much as possible. We all have a tan, and looking forward to alot more fun. as you remember I purchased a 1995 polaris SL750 and rebuilt the engine. That thing has been so much fun, I got another one. This one is not as much of a basket case and runs pretty good, but I need to do some upgrades before we start pounding on it. Having two skis and a boat is alot of fun for the parties we have at the lake. It is alot of work though, and at teh end of the weekend I am beat. Hey that is what summer is for... right?
