This ski locker frame isn't attached yet. I would like to rivet it in so it has a nice finished look, not sure if my rivets would be long enough.

I just got caught up with this one again. Very nice. That ski locker is off the hook. Great job on that. The deck looks awesome. Be proud of that. She's coming along great.

Now you're flying HA... You've probably posted the answer to this question, but what are you using on the floor?

I've got some marine vinyl that has little specks of black, white and grey so it just looks grey from more than a few feet away.

It is what these rigs came with from the factory and it holds up pretty well, and more importantly is easy to clean.

Good for people who plan on getting fish blood on the deck time and time again. I fall into that category;)

That ski locker looks great, and great to see the whole crew pitching in.

BTW, some of us have learned to hold those fish over the side while unhooking, one quick swing into the cooler and WaaLaa no blood stains...well actually when they are as small as the ones I catch, it's just easier to unhook over the side and drop em back in ;)....kinda similar to my hunting adventures, instead of getting blood all over the 4 wheeler, I just get a couple of pieces of bread and eat them where they fall :D

Hey looking great. Is there a place to get the metal part of the ski locker to install in other boats.

My boat still had the orignal vinyl in the floor. It does hole up really well.

Thanks Brad...as far as the ski locker, EZ and I both had good luck finding one on ebay for $30 with the aluminum frame and the piece of teak. I just checked and right now there's one in great shape for $200:eek:

Just keep checking every week or so and a good deal will show up before long. Some include a non-wood piece of starboard, I think Shife found one for his rig that's a rot-proof piece. I do like the teak look just more maint.

I am very glad I went that route since my below decks will be well ventilated and dry. Also pretty much the best rod storage option for my 16' rig too.

I'm wondering if I could go with an inline 30 amp fuse like this one for my CMC trim/tilt bracket?

I have a fuse block that's glued to my interior transom that I'd like to relocate/replace for convenience and I'm considering using all in-line fuses since all I will have will be the hydraulic bracket, navigation lights, one fishfinder and some interior LEDs.

Electrical is one of my weak areas so I need to do some research/get some ideas from more knowledgeable folks.;)

Your CMC should have a built in circuit breaker, but that fuse shouldn't hurt either. Just incase.

Good info TC, thanks. I just checked the manual for the CMC PT-130 and what I was thinking of are the two 40 amp relays that it says to mount in a dry location, possibly under the OB cowling.

So the circuit breaker is built-in and these relays are not fuses?

See what I mean about being my weak area?

Re: '79 Starcraft SS 16 restoration

I've got two of these in the block on the transom. I believe I should go ahead and get a few brand-new ones and keep some extras.

I need this CMC bracket to be reliable since the 80hp is not easily manually tilted(the 6" setback makes this even more difficult).

Sorry to be so ignorant but what does the relay do to prevent fires or whatever its job is?

you dont need to put an inline on everything if you get a switch panel. i have a 4 gang panel and eash switch has its own fuse. i have 1 inline master fuse as well.

A relay allows you to control a high current draw power source from a lower current rated switch/wiring. For example, without relays, you'd have to run big thick wires all the way to your ignition switch just to start your motor. They can also be used to control one circuit with another. Like a relay that connects to your headlights to allow them to turn on your foglights even though they are on a different circuit.

I've been debating that for a while and it would probably be easier to get a switch panel. I have three toggle switches already for lights, bilge, and the trim/tilt switch so a 4-gang would be enough.

Ahh...thanks, good explanation, makes sense to me now!

And smart since the geavy gauge wires cost more.:)

And you don't have to put them under your cowl. Only if you want to. I have mine in my bilge area, but at it's highest point. I did however install a second trim button on my outboard so I don't have to run back and forth to tilt my motor.
