I-74 to I-57.:D
Or take the "scenic" route, US Hwy 51!

Yeah, I'm gonna drive 90 miles west to go 200 miles south? Nope.

In relation to the western states, Illinois is small. But folks in the east should think of this,
If you superimposed Illinois over the east coast, the northern border would be about at Syracuse, NY, and the southern tip would be between Richmond and Virginia Beach!

Look up the cooridinates sometime! :)

I can properly pronounce that word, and spell Pittsburgh, since I grew up in the "Pottery Capital of the World", East Liverpool, Ohio!

One of the few. lol:)

DECK SWABBER, you just described an outdoorsman's paradise (the request for pictures is just a suggestion, since I can't exactly just come and see for myself)...

Like I said before, this is a great country!

Sorry did I mention that we have THE GREEN BAY PACKERS And Lambeau Field, the BEST football stadium in the world (IMHO) and Miller Park, one of the best baseball venues out there.

Not to mention the Packers are the only major-league team in all of professional sports that is owned by the fans. That's pretty cool and unique.

One other thing that we are famous for besides a fishing community is High School Football, the team in this decade has an impressive record of 102 wins and 12 loses and over half the team is on the honor roll. They were also high lighted on TV news channel. The game was played about 25 miles from Cape Ann and as you will notice it was snowing, cape ann had no snow.

EAST.;)

Southeast in fact. I-74 EAST to Bloomington/Normal to Rt.51.
Or probably fastest, I-74 EAST to Champaign, I-57 SOUTH.

Interesting fact about the size of Illinois. I have driven almost the
whole length of it more times then I care to count to visit family
in Chicago. Boy what a boring drive.

Why can't you come? Don't you have a car?:D

Pics are a great suggestion, I just haven't taken the time
to learn how to post them here yet. I am not a master of the
computer. I like to spend my time outdoors.:) (except now):(

Just north of Campbell River is the site of the world's largest man-made, non nuclear explosion.

In 1958 1370 tons of high explosives were used to blow the top off of Ripple Rock.

http://www.vancouverislandabound.com/tamingof.htm

That's an awesome explosion, and great website...

Reminds me of the story of the Hell Gate, in the East River....

I could try to post something if interested...

Hello, Il people, My wife is from Gibson City, 30'ish miles form both Champaign and Bloomington. Don't blink when you go through or you'll miss it. (where 4 out of 5 people in Ford drove Chevy's

They have a GREAT German restaurant (Bayren Stube) right near the train (everythings right near the train).

We'll be driving 23-24 Dec fron Virginia's Beautiful Eastern Shore to Gibson City. No good way to get there.

The amazing thing to me is that there are boats in people's driveways. I've never seen any lake or river large enough to put a boat in.

You weren't looking hard enough. Clinton Lake is not that far away.

And considering that half of the lake is really a cooling pond for the nuclear power plant, it is unfrozen, year round! But I am not sure if the plant is ctually online and producing power right now, though.

The only cool, unique fact in this hometown is that there's two boats tarped up at the same time in my yard....my dad would be soooo proud of me...{lol}

PS: I'm leaning towards a move to Medford WI...the dog & I can't seem to get enough of Jack's jerky :)

Recently moved from Sydney up to Cleveland just to the east of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. They've just finished filming the latest Chronicles of Narnia film here, "The Dawn Treader". The filmakers built a 120ft long pirate ship on Cleveland Point which has 270 degree water views. Cleveland is on Moreton Bay which is a BIG piece of water!
