Re: Yamaha 2008 50TLR Vibration
It is a 50TLR not an F50TLR. At least that is what the data plate on the motor has printed on it. I have not had it looked at as of yet due to the cost the dealerships want just to take the cover off the motor, little steep at $250.00 just to run the motor in a tank and another charge of 135.00 to hook it up to a computer. I did ask if I had a Mercury and not a Yamaha how does the warranty work, dealership says they would cover the look at and diagnostics. Guess I should have got a Mercury.
The vibe in troll is in the 750 to 950 rpm range. It smooths out at 1150 to 1200 rpm. The vibe is so bad that it jerks the back of the boat and feeds back through the damped steering. I have talked to several dealerships in my area and I get the same answer,"Don't care that the engine is under full warranty, you have to pay to have it looked at and any repairs made".
So much for having a warranty. Even when I called Yamaha Warranty Service the rude dude on the phone stated "I would have to pay out of pocket to have the motor looked at and repaired and that it would be a slim chance that it would be a warranty problem anyway", guess he has telepathy with motors to tell over the phone if it is a warranty problem or not. I asked as to why I even have a warranty if Yamaha dosen't cover anything. Get this, the response was "You would have to prove to us that it was a workmanship problem for us to cover it and Yamaha does not make mistakes with our outboards so you must have done something to the motor to make it run the way it does, have a good day"....click. OH, and don't ask to speek to a supervisor, you get the "I don't have to let you speek to a supervisor because he can't help you either".
So I didn't break into the dealership before I bought the boat, and I sure didn't do anything to the motor after I bought the boat. So here I am stuck with junk as my Dad would say. Makes for a not so great day on the water.
