Re: Yamaha 2008 50TLR Vibration
I wouldn't touch those carbs. In fact, its under warranty so I wouldn't touch anything. If you touch anything on the motor, and you are wrong and/or screw something up in the process then you take the chance of voiding the entire warranty. Then your up a creek without an outboard.
First you have to do some diagnosing. You need to see what's actually going on. Is it a low speed missfire? Is the missfire fuel or ignition or fuel system or compression related? Do you have good spark, what are the actual compression numbers? How exactly do the spark plugs look? What is the base timing set at? What should it be? Do you have a faulty coolant temp sensor/and or wiring that's locking back the timing
in the YMIS system and keeping the timing way to low. Do you have a fault in the primestart system? Is the primestart manual override lever in the wrong position?
Is it a combination of more than 1 problem?
Was this motor ever under water?
There are alot of variables my friend, to many. Think about what the motor is doing. If the issue was carb related then it either won't idle, idle to high or to low, consistantly hunt up and down for and idle, slight bog on acceleration, but it's not going to cause the motor to shake that bad. It may cause a stutter, but nothing that violent.
Timing on the other hand.... if that's incorrect then the motor will dance like a drunken redneck... all over the place. And if you have a combination of ignition and fuel issues... that redneck will try to breakdance to country music.
Take it slow, do some diagnosing. But just take rodbolts advice and call Yamaha and find a dealer with an experienced master tech. I fix these things all day long but if it was my motor under warranty I wouldn't touch it. Why should I? Somebody else gets paid to do it. And I don't work for free.
