My son got a new Wii game for Christmas-- Bass Fishin'. Great game. We were up till Midnight trying to land a few big ones. Haven't quite figured it all out yet and keep breaking line, but what a fun game for those of us who are in the North and don't ice fish.

BTW- Got it at Kohl's Department store for $14.99. Loads of fun as it lets you pick which lure you want to use and how to jig it. As with all the Wii games you have to go so far into the game to "earn" new tackle and we only have 6 or so lures to pick from, but I'm workin' on it. Just what I needed, another in a long line of distractions to avoid responsibility or anything that could be construed as exercise. :D

I have a Rapala one and didn't find it to be too great. Which one do you have? I'm wondering how the new one from BassPro is.

It's the one from Sega. I'm no video game connoisseur, but I thought it was pretty good for what it did. I'm sure the BassPro game would be better, but I'm having fun, and so is my son.

I've been thinking about getting a wii for the sole purpose of fishing game but haven't found a controller that is a bait caster. All I've seen so far are spinning reel type. I'm wondering which game is better too since there are quite a few of them.

ill have to check that out. My biggest complaint is that good video games nowadays, especially for the wii, are at least 50 bucks new. I cant justify that, but renting seems to be alright i guess. I would spend 15 bucks to try that one out though.

My son got that one for Christmas and it's kind of boring. But, it is fun trying to go WOT in the boat without hitting anything,,, before the outboard blows :D

ok so the sega bass fishing one is fun and easy to use for all to use.
the HOOKED REAL MOTION FISHING is pretty hard and the line snaps almost every time not real user friendly.

Has anyone played In-Fisherman Freshwater Trophies? I've been wondering which bass fishing game for the PC is best myself. I'd be interested to hear.

bkwapisz... Did you get the one that comes in the kit with the fishing rod controller? Or are you using just the standard wii nunchuck?

It's not bad. I played it for quite a while, easy to catch fish in practice mode and tournament mode is much harder. I fished the tournament trail and ended the season with enough points to win angler of the year but never win any individual tournament. The trail starts in the spring and end in the fall. It has different weather condition from day to day and hour to hour. You have to fish based on seasonal and weather pattern or you won't do very well. I think the tournaments are hole format, you have 1.5 hrs in each designated area of the lake, 5 holes each lake. If I remember right, you can even change area of the lake to find a different weather pattern for the day. The farther you run the less fishing time you have so you have to manage your time on the water wisely. You get penalty for late check in, dead fish, etc. You can pre-rig up to 5 rigs I think, any changes on the water take away fishing time, retie from break-offs( you will have many) take away time. Overall, the game is very realistic. If they have this version for Wii with a baitcaster controller that will simulates flipping/pitching and a trolling motor foot pedal to steer the boat with? I'd be a happy camper.

You just get to use the regular Wii controller, but to me that's cool because it vibrates when the fish pulls, etc. I'm a simpleton when it comes to games though. It's fun.

From my prior research Hooked is bad. The Sega one is good, and my experience with the Rapala one was poor. I was just now researching the Bass Pro one and apparently it is.........OMG BAD!! The reviews are absolutely horrendous.

I may give the Sega one a try.

Gonefishie... thanks for the input on In-Fisherman Freshwater Trophies! I think I might pick it up. I'm a big fan of the Lindners anyway.. I doubt they would put out a crummy fishing simulation.

bkwapisz... I don't have a Wii yet, but with all these new fishing games and gadgetry, it might be cool. I've played Wii tennis and bowling and man is the Wii cool... very realistic too.

There's a fishing game review site that talks a little about some of these games. Not so much stuff for Wii however, but has some reviews for the In-Fisherman for PC. It says the Lindners had a role in the development of the game. That sold me!

Maybe there will be some Wii's for sale on eBay in a month or two after a bunch of kids get tired playing with em. :)

Watch craigslist. What you want to watch for is not so much the price they're asking but what you get for that price. I bought our Wii from a co-worker for basically retail price. However, over $150 in games an accessories were included. Score!!! I would imagine you'll start seeing them as older kids decide to get an Xbox360 or a PS3 (that's what the son's of the lady I bought mine from had done). We love the thing.

I have the Bass Pro game and I actually think it's pretty darn good. In fact better than the Rapala game that a friend has for PS3.

Re: Bass Fishin' for Wii Video Game

Well we've been playing the game for a about a week now, and it's fun. I was having an impossible time landing fish, as I was keeping the rod up and constantly breaking lines. Then my 7 yr old tried a technique where he looking like he was sprinkling salt on the ground with the remote and he's landed about 50 fish. I'm not so sure how this equates to "Good" fishing programs as I think it doesn't teach how to prpoerly catch fish, but we've had countless hours of fun on it. At least we've unlocked a few new lures. ;)
