Ok so I'm still looking for a Bravo unit, I found another one looks like a bravo to me anyway but just to make sure I ask the SN Question  before I even think of bidding or sniping.
I just got a message back ehe can only read the first 5 digits which is fine, here is what he gave me 0L154... Am I cracking up when I looked it up its an Alpha 1 Gen II counter rotation . Am I crazy or is it the rest of the e-bay world????

It takes all of the SN to determine what it is. Or pictures.

whats the ebay link

Below is the link to the unit. it does look like a bravo, to me but it also looks a bit ragged out.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220565431621&viewitem=

I do have an alpha drive I can put on the boat, I checked out the upper from my old drive (the lower was junk) and its good, I also just got another good Alpha 1 1.50 upper for $41 on eBay :D so I have an out for the boat BUT I really want to put a bravo on her so I don't chew the drives like candy. The boat dry weight is 3500# Plus people+gear+etc I'll probably be up there with 350+Hp pushing her.

Thanks for your help,
Bill

And it's the ratio you want.... Do you have a Bravo transom assembly to bolt it too? They don't bolt up to an Alpha transom assembly....

Hey Chris, I have been looking and trying to get one. I actually just lost a rebuilt for a lousy $5 I sniped the auction, I put a snipe in at 365.99 max someone else sniped also and got it for 370.99. I think I have to change my snipe time settings too right now I"m at 5 seconds think I'm going to bring it to 2 sec. The upsetting side is the guy that won it has 1333 feed backs so he didn't even buy it to put on his boat. I will probably see it being sold by him next week.

I am going to give this Bravo a snipe and see if I can't win it. This time I won't be as frugal lol

Lol With any luck he'll start it off at .99 with no reserve :D and I'll snipe it for $5 lol . The one he won/I lost was complete with rams and had a $999.00 Buy it now :( I probably should have put my max more like $500 . it had new cables, bearing boots etc. Oh well, they are like woman and buses, another one will be along in 10 min :D

I"m Just Picky ;)

Hey Side note, this is the corrosion on the Alpha upper I was talking about I wire brushed it down some yesterday. The gears look good, When I opened her up she was still full of oil no leaks. I could swap them into my other housing but I would have to buy the Shimming tools and spanner to set it up . The way I like to play 300 in tools would be no big deal, I'm sure I would get a lot of use out of them

Thanks Bond-o The gears look good, there is no slop in them,so good that I locked the shaft and got nothing to I pressure tested it before splitting the case she held no problems. That case feels solid but its pretty ugly, can I bond-o (sorry I couldn't resist :D ) or fair it with JB weld or something after cleaning because dam its ugly?

I did win another upper on ebay but I don't know if the guy is going to part with it. I won a supposedly good upper 1.5 for $41 but the guy had a $399 buy it now on it to. So far he hasn't answered my e-mail with regard to picking it up.

If yours was the "winning bid" and not the "highest bid reserve not met" and he did not have a reserve, by contract it`s yours and he has to sell it.Painfull for him ,but the auction contract stands.

Yea I know, but I can't be that cruel he actually called me and said PLEASE can we cancel the sale!!! He said his girl forgot to put a reserve price on it. He did offer me the rebuilt bravo transom assembly for $600 (He canceled that sale too) as a peace offering Here it is below

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merc...7164986QQptZBoatQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesQ5fGear

I think its a pretty good deal, I asked him about the transom plate, he said he would make sure it came with it. I then asked him about the exhaust y pipe and he said no problem :D. So all in all I think it will work out

I have my bid snipe set up for the bravo1 hopefully I will get it otherwise I am going to look for an upper and get the lower from SEI I think. With over 400 ft lbs of torque I'm afraid that the alpha will turn into a grenade if I catch any air at WOT

A Bravo transom assm with rams and gimbal/bell housing is a steal

Just in case you didn't know...virtually every drive component behind the engine needs to be BRAVO.

And the flywheel housing... or does that count as 'behind the engine'?
