And the flywheel housing... or does that count as 'behind the engine'?

Chris....

jtybt - Thanks for the info, I thought the complete gimbal for 600 was a good deal, thanks for re-assuring me

Hey Chris
I thought the flywheel housings were the same. I also did a check on the engine coupler and came up with mallory # 9-72502 for 153 tooth and Mallory # 9-72507 for 168t Flywheels.

One problem I am having is finding a 400/454 153t , most I am
seeing are 168t . Its easy enough to get a new starter but I don't know if it
will fit in the bell. I am going to pull the part # off my bell today and check its applications.
Here is what I have in the boat right now:
engine driven sea water pump and pickup
Alpha Bell
Power steering oil cooler
Steering Ram, lines etc
New GLM manifolds + risers 4"

Here is what I THINK I need:
New coupler (even though the old one would probably work, why chance old)
Complete Bravo Gimbal assembly + Inner Transom plate
Exhaust Y pipe
Starter if I go to 168 tooth flywheel

If I am leaving anything out Please let me know :)

EVERYTHING from the engine to the drive is different between an alpha and a bravo.

Hi jtybt - I'm not trying to be a wiseguy or anything, this is the 2nd time you stated EVERYTHING ,that is a very broad statement.

I am replacing what I had on my list above, the complete transom assembly - Gimbal, inner transom plate rams hoses Oil jug Exhaust Y pipe etc. obviously the Bravo 1 stern drive .

On a part number look-up or at least my lame attempt of one the engine bell housing is the same, the engine coupler for a bravo with a 153 tooth flywheel is the same.

I thought that was EVERYTHING, IF I am Overlooking Something Please Tell Me. Is the shift cable bracket different, do I need to install a widget, I'll contact the factory lol.

I am here asking questions because I am unsure and seeking the help form those of you who have knowledge and experience with this
