Hello, I have just purchased a 1977 slickcraft 17.5 foot I/O with a 350 mercruiser. Anyone have any idea what this thing weighs??? It doesnt have a cabin or anything like that, it basicly looks like a ski boat. The boat seems super heavy and I'm just curious what you guys think.

Thanks

Ayuh,... I'd say between 2000lbs, to 4000lbs...
Tow it to a Scale,+ weigh it to be Sure...
Being a 77, it's probably haulin' an extra ton of Water...

I'm pretty sure its an SS-176 if that helps at all. But I will make my way over to a scale next chance I get.

Thanks

1977 slickraft

Is a 1977 Slickcraft SX 175 manufactured the same as a 1987 slickcraft?? the reason why I ask is that this 77 is heavy as hell but I was able to find a weight on a 1987 slickcraft and it stated it was 2400 pounds.

thanks

Isn't there a pill for that?? :p:D

Welcome to iboats!! Yes I agree with the "Doctor" and chances are there is water in the foam in the hull. Visit the restoration section to diagnose that.

2400lbs is about right, Their a rugged built boat and do not have foam in the hull to my knowledge. Iv'e owned 4 slicks and a friend has one but they were bigger 21'ers and 23'ers no foam. I'll look into my slickcraft specs and see if i can get you a figure on your SS-175.

If you need an exact weight, see if you have any sand and gravel buisnesses near you. They usually have a scale that you drive onto to weight the amount of sand or gravel you have loaded in a truck. They will probably let you weigh it for a few bucks, if not free !

I don't know what part of the world your in, but any grain elevator would probably weigh you for nothing if you asked.

Re: Boat weight guesstimate

I took the wet foam out of the stern deck of my boat. (16 ft runabout) and i filled up a 30 gallon trash can with foam. must have weighed between 100-200 lbs. And all i removed was an area or about 5 ft by 5 ft by 6 inches deep. There was still some foam in the upper deck, that i never got.

My boat is a 78 thompson, and it the trailer and all weighted about 3,000 lbs. so the baot may have been about 2,000. MY guess would be that your boat is closer to 4,000 than 2,000. With the trailer it may be 5,000
