I have a Q4 that I bought about a month ago... Took my boat out 1 time and knew something was gonna have to be put on there for me to even want to keep it...I was experiencing proposing when the trim was out just a little bit past fully down position, bow rise, would not plain until around 19-20 mph and a horrible low speed wonder. I mean it was so bad the boat was almost impossible to drive up on the trailer.... Put these on, had to mount them closer to the middle than recommended but still around 14 inches from center and wow... I can now trim out to to around 1/4 on the trim gauge with no proposing, I can now always see over the bow when getting out of the hole, plaining speed is now around 13-15 MPH and the most important to me, minimum low speed wonder.. .It is incredible... I was reluctant to do it at 1st as I had to move my transducer which required filling and drilling even more holes but man I am glad I did...

Very nice. I didn't have quite the issues you had , but still noticed a big differnce with the tabs. Did you have any issues with your tie downs for the trailer?

Nice Job- I also have a Q4 with Tabs. It was the best addition I could of added to the boat.
One question- noticed that the mounting bracket attached to the boat is metal- is this a new version? Mine is plastic.

mccownk- 1st off, thanks for your help on these with answering questions in my other thread before I installed these....To answer your question no I did not have any issues with my tie downs.. Thought I was going to but when they are tight they are right up against the tabs but no pressure what so ever are put on the tabs from the tie downs...

opieandy1- Those mounting brackets were purchased separately, they are the pr5000 or something like that brackets on the Nauticus website.. They are for engaging and disengaging the tabs.. I wake board and knee board and didn't know if these would mess up my wake but from what I can tell they do not mess it up at all..Also gave me about another inch from center...

Hey KOKO1, looks good. I noticed you have your tabs on a different location than we have been installing them on the Q6. Is the location different on Q6 vs Q4 ? Just curious.

Yes it is in a different location... Where I installed them is the furtherest out they can go on a Q4...
a Q6 has enough room below the swim platform to install them where as a Q4 does not have any room so they have to be mounted inside the swim platforms... They still work great though...

How does your transducer work in that mounting location? Nice install btw, I have them on my Q4 as well. Big difference in boat performance.

I have not noticed any difference in performance from it... It works just like it did before... I programmed my unit down 1 foot so that my depth would be even or about even with the bottom of my lower unit so that was no problem there... I have noticed no difference with the transducer though...

KoKo1,
I been looking at buying these smart tabs myself. I looked at these on many websites. When buying, did you get the pair of them for the price advertised, or did you have to buy two?
These website dont say how many are in one package. Even iboat dont say how many you get in a one package.

Whenever you buy them there is 2 of everything in the package, 2 top plates, 2 bottom plates, 2 actuators, 2 tabs, and all the screws needed...

You can also buy the factory blems off Iboats for $99... From what I have heard there is nothing wrong with them and in many instances you can not even tell a difference... Many times the colors come out a little wrong or something cosmetic like that but it is nothing that would affect the performance... I bought mine from Gander Mountain online as I bought about $400 in stuff and had a $120 off coupon so I basically got them for free....

hey KoKo, like the other gentleman asked earlier in the thread, Do the tabs effect you putting the transom tie downs on at all? do the get in the way? I'm about to install them and was just wondering.

No I had no issues with the tie downs... I thought I was going to but they put no pressure on the tabs.... If for some reason you do you can hook the bottom tie down to the bottom bunk where the metal of the trailer attaches to the bunk... You will see what I am talking about if you look but you should have no problems with it as I did not...

I used the factory blems and if they didn't say they were blemishes I would never have known the difference. The money savings is a nice benefit and just adds to the value of this great product. You will not be disappointed!

Ok, I have another question for ya....I just recieved my smart tabs and I was going over the instructions which seem very cut and dry. My only question is how did you or do you measure the 25 degree angle that the tabs are to be positioned? These are going on a 2007 q4ss. Thanks again!

When you mount them to the boat, they will naturally hang at the correct angle. Check out my post in this forum on the install on the Q6 for more info. Good luck and you won't be disappointed.

Re: Smart tabs on Tahoe Q4 Install finished...

Just finished installing my start tabs and now I cant wait to get her out on the water!! Koko I noticed your depth guage transducer cable going into the transome above the stickers......is that a good place far enough up from the water line? and also did the hole come through in the engine compartment? Thanks!

Re: Smart tabs on Tahoe Q4 Install finished...

I really don't know if it is a good place but it was the only place I could mount mine as that is all the cord I had....I have noticed no difference in performance from it...About the holes I have no idea... I never looked to check if they did or not... Glad you finally got them on, you will not be disappointed...
