Hello, I have a autoblend that im using with no problems.I know they arent liked by many but mine has been in use since 1994 so I keep an eye on it and like only having to fill it up 3 times a year instead of every time I fuel the tank.
My motor is a 1994 mariner 50 hp 3 cly 2 stroke(not big foot) serial# oc161757 My question is what is the difference between autoblend and autoblend II? I found a new (nos) autoblend II for $25.00 dollars. Thought I would get it to have for $25.00.Will it work with my motor? Or is it for totaly different setup? I could not find any info anywhere, thanks for any info. Also it is new never used still in box but was manufactured in 1989 are there any parts that could go bad from just sitting in box?

Re: Autoblend

Well 16 years is a pretty good run.And its still going I just found this other one and thought for $25.00 I would get it just in case. I would rather hook up another one instead of jacking around with the wiring and lines if it did ever quit. I just not sure if it is the same thing it looks a little different.

Re: Autoblend

Sorry guy but your engine is not a 1994 but a 1989.

Merc ditch the Auto-blend and replace it on those triples with the newer oil injection system (wich is far more reliable: crankshaft driven oil pump) in 1991 from serial 0D000750 and up. The only change they made is that, from 1991 to 1993, it's a constant ratio (50:1) pump and, from 1994 up, it's a variable ratio pump (60:1@idle to 50:1@WOT) linked to the bottom carb.

Re: Autoblend

From your serial and the fact that it as the Auto-blend system, i'm pretty sure it's a 1989.

Re: Autoblend

I think so because I have A title And when I give shops my serial # its a 1994 like I said the boat is 1981 so that auto blend could be from the 1981 motor. Is the autoblend and the autoblend II the same mix ratio

Re: Autoblend

Anybody could put anything on the title, doesn't make it a fact. The engine may have been fitted in '94. That doesn't make it a '94 engine.... This is from a Mercury Marine book called 'Publications and starting serial numbers'....

It quite clearly shows the serial number of your engine being in the 1989 year group.

Re: Autoblend

As I previously said, Auto-blend can't be "added", as post-1991 engines already have a different oiling system(see my previoust post).

And for the shops you go, they probably simply enter your serial # in their computer and order parts accordingly, without bothering with the year you say it was...

Well they are telling you BS! Did you even look at the listing? 1989!!!

And as 'saumon' stated, Autoblend finished in 1991. IF your engine was 1994 it would have an internal oil tank with an oil pump, NOT Autoblend!!!

Oh boy!!

Your serial number is 0C161757... All engines between 0B396036 and 0C221499 (and that includes yours) were built in 1989....
