I have a 4.3 L v6 Chevy block OMC I/O motor with a manual fuel pump which just went up its the original pump.

Should I switch it over to an electrical and if so where would I find a conversion kit for it? Or would it be better to just stay with manual?

Also the rod that pushes down on the mechnical pump how can you tell if that is working correctly and if I switch to electrical how would I cover that up?

Thanks for any info you can give

+1
Electric pumps are designed to push fuel thats already there via gravity feed. In a boat the fuel needs to be pulled up and out of the tank. There are a few electric pumps made for marine use, but they're $$$$.

How would I tell if the rod that pushes the pump is working properly

Ayuh,... With the fuelpump Off the motor,...
Hold the cam follower up against the cam,+ turn the motor over...
You'll feel it riding on it's cam lobe...

I've Never seen 1 go Bad...

ok thxs one more question and I think I will be good.

The main issue I'm having is fuel isnt going into the carb its running from the tank to the hose going into fuel/water seperator but from there is stops so that means the fuel pump correct?

I've sucked on the hose that leads from fuel tank and got fuel out of the line and just changed the fuel water seperator filter just a little more info
