Since ever that I can remember, we have always used what was in the tank from the previous year. Never really had any real issues on using it the next summer.

I dump remaining gas in my truck or lawn mower at the end of the season.

The term is "dry gas" which was a product created years ago for use in the winter to remove moisture from fuel to prevent gas line freeze. With the alcohol content in fuel today it is not needed. What you should be using is a product like SeaFoam or Stabil. It should also be added in the fall before storage. You then let the engine run long enough to get the stuff into the entire fuel system. Then put the rig to bed for the winter. Adding something in the spring will not make new gas out of old gas.

No, not brean dead, just cornfused like me.

Dry gas is for sub freezing winter temps, not needed in the spring. (even if it WAS needed now....but funny thing is they still sell it!)

Drive gas is whats in the tank to make the boat drive. Or is it?

Can't be a typo cause it was typed twice. The OP needs to clarify.

I'll switch over to the Stabil blue version. I still have a case of the Stabil red version left. :)

Have you seen the price of Sta-Bil lately? If you have a case of it, I'd use it sparingly (ie: correctly) before I'd purchase anything new.

I don't use any kind of fuel additive in any of my toys. Just top it off and put it away. Of course my BIL swears by it, and ANYTIME something goes wrong, he crows about using the stabilizer. Even if it is a drive belt gone bad!

when gathering opinions on this, remember that gasoline has changed, with more ethanol added, so what used to work isn't necessarily relevant.

I use the Stabil ethanol treatment all year and the stabilizer for winter. Only because it can go several weeks without use even in the summer. Heck I haven't even pulled her outta the garage yet this year. :(

I use STABIL in the boat in the winter and the sleds in the summer, no problems yet!

Some people think that using Stabil is NOW necessary because of ethanol fuel. Not true. It was always needed.

I bought my first new boat over 40 years ago and stabilizing the gas for the winter was recommended in the owner's manual even back then.

And over 50 years ago it was known that gas went bad in a short time because my Dad always DRAINED the mower and other equipment when it was put up for the season.

My boat rarely sits long enough to use Stabil since we're out most weekends even in the winter.
