loss of power

hi all i have a 2003 trophy 1703 cc with a 2004 90 Hp 2 stoke saltwater series when i ran it yesterday all was good got up an went no problem well after running it for hour or so on my way back in to ramp at wide open it was jumping like it would lose and gain power weird i bought the boat two weeks ago guy had full tank of gas not sure how old, new plugs, new gear oil, water pump added ten gallons of fuel to it before going out when i back down on throttle it wouldnt do it but as soon as i gave it full throttle it would do it what should i do is the question take it to dealer or try small things to see if i can get the problem fixed

My suspicion would be water in the fuel.

thanks should i just run it to remove fuel or access gas tank and take it out that way

If the fuel is water logged and old you don't even want to run it. Not even in another land based vehicle so you need a way to dispose of it. I've found that having the tank cleaned professionally is the easiest way to go since they will dispose of the fuel for you. It isn't cheap but it's environmentally correct.

To help prevent the problem in the future, secure a condom over your fuel tank vent when the boat is not in use. This will prevent moisture from entering the tank when the humidity is high. Looks a little funky but it's purpose is as intended.. Saves you a lot of grief and money:)
