Lake Beltzville on Memorial Day weekend?

I was thinking of heading to Beltzville on Saturday this weekend & wondered how crazy it gets up there over Memorial Day? We usually launch from the Preacher Camp ramp. We're about an hour & a half from the lake, so I'd hate to go all that way to find it a mad house.

Any local insight?

If they are calling for nice weather...get there early or be prepared to wait up to 3 or 4 hours...maybe more. A whole crew of us are going up on Sunday. 3 boats and 14 or so people...

Sounds fun! Unfortunately, my window is Saturday afternoon, so getting there early isn't possible. Sounds like a good weekend to sit it out.

Does the lake stay busy on every weekend after Memorial day too?

Preacher's Camp ( in my experience ) doesn't see the traffic that Pine Run gets. I personally don't like launching at Preacher's. I think the weekend will be busy if the weather is nice, but I'm hoping it's not a mob scene. Monday probably will be packed, I'm planning on being there early.

What time are you thinking about for Saturday?

We have company until noonish, so it'd probably be close to 3pm by the time we got there.

I personally don't like launching at Preacher's.

Why don't you like Preachers Camp? I liked how it was quieter there & less chop/wind to deal with. Plus we're coming from the south, so it was faster/easier to get to.

I have to back in a lot farther at preacher's. Are you coming up 33 or 476?

We come up 476.

I'm not even sure if Saturday will work out at this point. Getting there at 3pm is kind of late (1.5 hr drive each way) & I'm not sure our company will leave at noon exactly.

Unfortunately Sunday is busy & Monday I don't even want to attempt

476 makes Pine Run closer. After the toll booth go straight across the bridge, at the stop make a left on 209, then make the first left and cross the stream, first right is beltzville dr ( or maybe POHOPOCO ) a couple miles up and the ramp is on the right after the bridge. Can't miss it.

The problem is getting to the bridge. You can't cross the median (easily) where the 476 ramp dumps you out on 209. You have to either make a weird U-turn or go east on 209 and turn around in a parking lot. I guess it's technically closer, but not entirely easier. Pine Run still seemed choppier/windier the time I tried it & it's often busier when we boat by it (or so it seems - can't say I've paid lots of attention).

Always has been, although they have been doing construction in the area. I think they're done on 209 anyway. After the toll plaza you want to exit towards Lehighton, then turn left. If you exit towards Stroudsburg you can't make a left.

Ohhhh! I zoomed out and followed the other lanes & now I get it I need to take the bridge over 209 after the toll, loop around, cross back over 209 & then head up that way. I get it now Sorry for being dense.

I'll have to give Pine Run another shot.
