I have a VP SX-M drive, serial number 4112082228 and product number 3868892; it's time to replace my drive and exhaust bellows with genuine VP parts. Does anyone have the correct part number for a bellows kit that has both bellows in it? I can't seem to find the correct drive bellows kit for my boat, much less a kit that includes both bellows.
Second, it looks like the little grease extension tube has dry-rotted right around the zerk fitting, and I would like to get a new one. Does anyone know where I can find this part number? I want to replace this part; I do not want eliminate the tube and tap the lower unit.
Third, I have all the service manuals; while informative, they are difficult to read, at best. Just looking at the lower unit, it looks like I can just remove the six stud nuts, remove the shift cable, and remove the aft hydraulic ram pins, and the lower unit should slide right off. I can temporarily zip-tie the rams up and out of the way while I replace the bellows. What I can't seem to figure out, however, is if an allignment bar is necessary. The service manual doesn't mention the allignment bar when only removing the lower unit, but many posts do mention it. Honestly, is the allignment bar necessary when only replacing the bellows?
Thanks in advance.
