At the point when the bolt broke, the drive had been pulled (at least the upper gearbox part). And as far as any movement, it didn't budge one bit! Guess its time to pull the engine!

now that the oil is in there, it should loosen it up after a while. maybe try clicking the starter in a few days, if its not ripped out. you can also start it out of the boat. did you say it ran before it was parked and stored? or was somthing wrong with it? that sucks about bolt, but dont let it get you down, youll get it. sounds like a nice boat. any pictures of it?

Well bad news, bad news and more bad news. I let the Marvel oil soak for 24+ hours, and attempted to turn the crank pulley with the socket and breaker bar as alot of you had suggested. Apperiantly I was a little to forcefull and just broke the crank bolt off in side the crank shaft!!!
Sorry to hear about the bolt breaking off. That is a rarity. That motor was coming out either way. I still say rip it apart.A machine shop will get that bolt out.You have said that the bolt started to come out on you when you turned it the opposite way so it wont be a big deal for them to get it out.You said you took the upper drive off. What kind of shape were your U-joints?What kind kind of shape is the bellow is it dry rotted, have holes in it? Now you can start your winter project you can do it.

I just posted some pictures of the bellow and upper gearbox, i'm not an expert but they seem to be good. The bellow flexs very well and has no holes or any sign of wear from what i can tell. The u-joints also look good, i spin them and they spin very easily and freely, also no grinding sound and such, what do you think?

Stop!

Don't use WD40....you need to get a 2 quart bottle of marvel mystery oil. Get one of those bulb pump hose things (not sure the technical name).
Pull all plugs and squirt each cylinder until oil starts to drip out....some cylinders will obviously take more then others.

Let it sit for 24 hours or more!!!! The longer the better

Then give it a shot....worked on mine, like a charm.

This will also break down any corrosion that may be on the ring, whereas, WD40 will not and you may end up scratching the cylinder walls, if and when you do get it turning....good luck

The ujoints look great. I'd change the bellows. It needs to be changed every two years.

Also make sure you replace the two orings for the reinstall of the upper gear box.

Also, while you've got the upper off, I would pull the hose off the water intake fitting right bellow the ujoint bellows. If that connection is corroded, now is a good time to replace. See this thread.

One other check to do, reach in the ujoint bellows and try to move the drive shaft the ujoint yoke slips over. If there is any side to side, up and down play, the bearings supporting the shaft need replacing.

Thanks for all the advice,
I did what you said about trying to wiggle the drive shaft part where the u-joint yoke slips over, had no wiggle at all! Which i am assuming is a good thing.

Where is the best place to order the bellow and orings from?

thanks

Good, your outdrive and intermediate bearings appear to be in good shape.

Where to get parts? Iboats of course.
