Hi,
First off I would like to introduce myself. My name is Trung. I'm from Houston,TX. This is my first boat so I'm a total noob to boating. I picked up a 1995 bayliner trophy with a force 120 outboard for really cheap. My seller told me that the motor doesn't go up and down. The whole electrical unit on the boat were destroyed by his boat "mechanic." Well my friends and I took all the wires out and ran our own wire harness. The person that worked on the boat before really didn't know how to work on it. Well after two days of hard labor in 100 degree heats, we finally finished. The boat start up and the trim also worked. Everything on the boat worked.
I was so happy when we finally get to take it out to the lake to test it out. The boat didn't want to start. My heart dropped.
Now the problems I'm having are:
It's so hard to start when it's cold or rested for more than an hour. I have to spray the starting fluid in order to get it to start.
Now ever since we couldn't get it to start in the lake, it has been acting weird. The motor would start but it would die at idle. I completely don't know what the problem is. Spark plugs were changed not too long ago and still look really good.
Would it be the battery? I was told to check the stator. Where and how would i remove it to replace it?
Sorry for the long post, but please help me out. I will welcome and advice. I'm a complete noob to boat and the motor. Thank you for you time.
