I have just realized that since I brought the boat home from it's 7 year nap in storage, the lower unit has been at about 3/4 up position. After I got the engine running, I tried the trim and heard but did not witness the trim operate. When removing the gear case to change the impeller, I had to lift (physically) the unit to get gear case off and hold it up with a strap during replacement. All the while I was able to again lower it with strap to get case together. I again raised it with strap to see the shift lever position. Now that it is back together, It stays back up at 3/4 up position! Why? And is this normal that with gear case loosened from drive case, that the trim will not hold in up position?
