If your engine isn't spraying water I expect it a lost plug. I would hold onto it until I was sure. :)

That plug in my boat is also used for draining the engine block(both sides) and fuel cooler.

As mentioned, those can be found on the engine block, exhaust manifolds ... if your bilge doesn't fill up without that plug, either it has been replaced or its plugged up with rust. If the latter, then you have another problem.

Thank you all (and I was expecting a penny joke lol). The bilge does not fill up with water at all, so I suppose it was replaced. I will run my hand along the engine block and see if I can find where it was, it is difficult to see too much in there. Will it be along the bottom or top? Thanks!

To help you see in tight spaces use a mirror and strong flashlight. Bounce the flashlight beam off the mirror and onto the engine while you view in the mirror where the light is hitting the engine. Might help.

Something you can do with tight spaces is stick a phone under there and take pics. A phone is a lot smaller than your head. Usually. :joyous:

So--- been a while, but last season, when I used the boat (just once), I realized the Bilge was filling up with water. So, I need to replace that plug. Can anyone please point me to a diagram where it will show where those plugs go? Will make looking for the hole easier. Thanks!

Typically they are found:
one in each exaust manifold
one in each side of the block
one in the large hose from the circ pump to the thermostat
one on the fuel cooler
one in the power steering cooler

I googled that boat and the standard engine was the 4.3 (V6) but if you don't know, post the serial number. It should be on the cover on top of the engine (flame arrestor on the carb). For a V6 there should be 5 blue plugs. 2 on each side of the engine, one block drain and one exhaust manifold drain. In the second diagram, there is a plug that goes into the elbow for the water pump. This one is hard to see and you might have to reach under there or stand on your head.

No Title

Hi guys- I wanted to close the loop and again thank everyone for their help. I checked out the boat yesterday and found all 5 plugs in (BRG25, great pictures, thx!), here are pictures of the plugs. I am still wondering if I am missing one plug due tot he fact that last summer I had a very very slow leak. I also attach a picture of the air filter showing it is the Merc 5.0 liter engine. Any advice is appreciated!

Check the connector below your manifold. There should be a hose and that plug. Of there is no plug then no worries. The previous owner probably replace the elbow with one without a drain.

Looks exactly like mine. All 5 plugs in the exact same locations.
