Hi all, just looking for some advice (I tried the search function, but couldn't find what I was looking for).

I have a 1962 3hp Lightwin. Compression is 50psi in each tube - not great, but not terrible.

I've replaced coils, condensers, points, impeller, recoil spring, rebuilt carb, head gasket, plug wires, boots, plugs. It starts great cold and runs well. However when I try to restart the motor when hot (for example I stop/kill ignition to do a little fishing and try to restart the moter) it coughs and sputters and really doesn't want to run (this only happens when engine is hot). However once it is running again it runs like a champ and will run for hours (or at least until I run the tank dry)

Any ideas what I should be looking at to trouble shoot this "starting when hot" problem?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

couple of possibilities that I can think of float is not shutting off completely and engine is flooding or crank shaft seals are leaking.

Compression could possibly be a factor as the engine heats up it expands and looses compression making it hard to start when hot, but easy to start cold as there is more compression .
