so i ran into a new issue with the 97 wellcraft i picked up, best option?

my new issue

tonight i went to drop it in the water for the first time for its shake down run. when i looked at the boat it was on a bad trailer, so the guy put the boat on stands, and put another trailer under it. when i got it in the water it wouldnt budge off the trailer. i finally realized that the tie down hook up top was hitting the top bumper and snagging on it. at the time i was pretty sure the bottom hook wasnt hitting the bottom bumper, but now that im looking at the pic im starting to second guess that thought.

what is the best course of action to remedy this??

First question I have is why it has 2? Judging from the rest of this boat, I would look at how it was mounted before you ever try to use it to see if it has proper backing.

You may just want to remove it and fill the holes.

That trailer is not set up well for your trailer. Even with that other bow eye gone, I bet you are going to have issues winching your boat up. Plus that plate the winch is on looks like it's bent!

i went as deep as i could with my 4runner tonight, not enough to get it off

Its a roller trailer isn't it? Put a safety chain with 6" of slack, back the winch off 6" and let it roll back as you launch.

yea it is, i guess i could do that, i would prefer to not have to worry about doing that every time though.

what if you cut off the top bow stop and then bolted to the lower at an angle form the base, forming a triangle and the stop would be below the bottom eye. Make sense?

tonight i had the stern floating, and ran it in the water like that for about 30 min. just couldnt put it under load. but it seemed to run flawless

ok not the artist with this stuff see if this makes sense. I'd rather have you cutting things off the trailer than off the boat.

you could even cut a slip in the metal so it adjusts for the nuances of where the bow ends up when putting on the trailer.

my initial thought was to remove that upper bump stop. i like the idea of doing that and adding a support bracket, might look into this a bit farther

running with no load tells you nothing

and I would say the lower one is the original - it has a flat spot where it attached to the hull the other one does not

EDIT: i just looked at pic from the sale ad, the original trailer was big and goofy, and they added the upper hook so they could use that trailer

the upper one is the one that was added, the lower one has the divot in the hull.

I would look behind it, if it is not reinforced, simply remove the upper one and plug the two holes with some resin soaked csm, then finish off with gel patch and buff.

yeah what Scott said. On the original trailer sure seems like it would have been easier to adjust the trailer with a few bolts rather than drilling thru the boat
