Hey all,
My bellows replacement saga continues.
Now it's the fitting for the gear lube monitor that goes through the transom. It's brass with a PLASTIC hose barb. Why not all brass?
I looked through a bunch of posts. Seems like this is a common thing. Either you can contort yourself and maybe reach it or pull the engine. I'm gonna give it a try.
I'm beginning to hate I/O
My question is which part numbers do I order?
Could it be item #1 or item #36?
And they mention "with gear lube bottle". What is a gear lube bottle?

#1 is the fitting that you need
The one on my boat is brass with a plastic hose barb sticking out of it.
Which #1 do you mean? There looks like there are two of them. One for "applications with gear lube bottle" and one "Without gear lube bottle".
What is a gear lube bottle?
Thanks for the quick replies.

guessing the one that says without gear lube bottle is a plugged off one and the one with gear lube bottle can have the hose connected to it.
#22 is the gear lube bottle/res

when they refer to the "gear lube bottle", do they mean the reservoir mounted on the engine?

So, by stating "lube bottle" are they referring to the reservoir? If so, I do have one, so I guess I need part # 22-861150T02?

Yes they are one in the same and you do have a reservoir since you have a broken bulk head fitting merc part number 22-861150T02 like seen in BTdoc's first photo of the black plastic fitting with orange O-rings. Using your serial numbers, yours is not going to be brass as they stopped using brass fittings around the end of 1997. The two material are not interchangeable due to the transom assembly "hole" sizes are different for the brass and plastic designs.

Ok, thanks guys. I ordered 22-861150T02 with the o-rings and extra E clips for dropsies. Gonna try and reach in there today and remove the old one.
