Started on the windshield frame....about to wrap it up.

Took the windshield apart this afternoon after work. Didn't break it,LOL. Those V- brackets in the corner of the frame are tough if they're rusty and the allen screw strip out. Managed to save them though. Going to try to soak the frames in lye tomorrow to strip off the anodize. Hopefully get them buffed up too. I did manage to install a better fuel gauge with a light that matches the other gauges. Also repaired some of the seams on the sides of the seats with some vinyl glue. All in all, I'm having a lot of enjoyment tinkering on this nineteen Here's a few pics. Hope you folks aren't getting tired of my ramblings.

Got done with it this evening. Turned out good. Even managed to slightly bend the top frame so it would seal to the roof just a little tighter.Now I definitely need to do the trim on the top LOL. More pics.

man, that really turned out great. same as the rub rails. great work. mine don't look near that good. i just wax mine once a year and then wash them a few time throughout the season, though i do use some ducky brand water spot remover which seems do work as advertised and gets rid of the water spots. it sure don't shine like yours do though. looks great.

wondering about your fuel gauge. it looks like mine. do you know what lamp ya put it it for illumination? all my gauges have the same lamp in them but the fuel gauge, which was missing when i got it. is yours that way (a different size lamp than the other gauges)? and do ya know what lamp number ya put in it? i likely won't be able to do anything real soon on mine though as it is snowing here, just swept and inch plus off the nineteen. probably gonna get another inch or so still. darn snow. your garage looks real nice...

Thanks Jim, What I've done isn't perfect by any measure,but it does help the boat shine a little better. I'm still working on the top trim. My elbow grease ran low for a while

. I'm going to try and get it done maybe this week.Ya'll can just keep that white stuff over there LOL. I put a no.55 auto bulb in the fuel gauge,but I think a GE 1895 bulb will work. Thanks on your comment about my basement/shop/junkhole.I need to clean it up.Got too much junk in it LOL.

ya it does. i think i could use yer trim as a mirror to comb my hair in it's so shiny. and it looks a lot better, not a little better. probably didn't shine that well when it was new in '75. i'm impressed, yer Nineteen looks great. i still think the blue ya got is the cats meow...

thanks for the bulb numbers. i'll try that out. from memory, my gauge is wired and ready for a lamp, i just didn't know which one to get since it was different than all the other gauges.

Thanks Jim, I keep forgetting I'm dealing with a 39 year old boat LOL. I just try to do the best I can on all my old stuff cause if I don't take pains with whatever I'm doing, it usually don't turn out too good:facepalm:. All I lack now is the two bottom rails that mount the top to the main tracks on the boat.The trim turned out good with the exception of some pits in it that was too deep to sand out. I decided not to strip the rear top trim as it is still in pretty good condition and it is riveted on. Did get new snaps for it though.Jim, I'll keep you and who ever else gives a hoot about my progress up to date on this project. Thanks for your comments. jim lowe

I got the bottom rails done today. Put new rivets and backing washers on the top slides,installed them on the top and set the top back on the boat. I'll probably caulk the trim tomorrow. I guess I'll use clear silicon because that's what looks like was on it before. Here are some more pics and please don't laugh too hard at my homemade top removing "apparatus" Got some new top rails coming 'cause the old ones were pitted too bad to use.

Thanks Alvarez. It's hard to do but worth it. Is yours a 165 hp?
