'toons are nice boats for lazin' around, swimmin' and fishin' from. IHMO they can be a lot easier to rehab if you wind up with some problems too.

While yer' savin' - take a few trips to local dealers. Crawl around some pontoons and see what you do and don't like. That'll help you figure out what's important to you when you go to buy. The pontoon my family currently uses is pretty fancy and nice with the sun deck and such, but the one that I grew up with was much more of a barge - 2 cans, an outdoor carpet floor, side rails and a helm ... we just carried folding chairs out on it and moved 'em where we wanted to sit. That boat had it's pluses compared to the fancier boats they're puttin' together these days.

If it is a project boat, start listing it now. Don't know where you are but people love winter projects.

Pontoons are good, so are aluminum boats. Picked up the Starcraft in my signature for $2,100 a few years back and it still is running great. Good deals are out there. Getting them is work, good timing and luck.
