Rob,
What are the traveling plaque's dimensions? We have a pile of wood plaques at the shop and no longer do in house plaque work.

Hi jb. I believe the plaque measures 12" x 15". I think it is MDF. If you've got solid wood bases, it would be worth upgrading methinks. The original has a woodgrain finish that's only stain/paint deep. I packaged it in the same materials that DozerII used to send it to me last year. The corners were beginning to show some paint wear, so I added some matching stain. It was in pristine condition when I wrapped it in bubble wrap, but the carton was only slightly larger than the plaque. Any severe damage to the packing would be traumatic to the contents. Maybe it needs to be in an oversized container with more substantial corner protectors. - Grandad

It may be cost prohibitive but I would chip in money if someone built a crate like the one from A Christmas Story. Wrote FRAGILEY , and MAJOR AWARD all over it and filled it with straw. That would be awesome!!!!!

Yes I have the sense of humor of a 12 year old sometimes. But it would be awesome!:becky:

I'll check tomorrow, I'm pretty sure they are wood instead of MDF

May not be worth the $ to send it all the way across country from Rob to me, and then back. Wonder what a trophy shop would charge Rob to just remount the plates off the current plaque onto a new 1?

I'll touch base w/ Rob after I check at work.

Grandad, I doubt the packaging was solely to blame, it was probably the package HANDLING by the shipper. It happens, and different packaging may have faired better or worse.

Yeah Gdad is right, the plaque is not real wood, it's that pressed stuff with a wood grain coating on the surface and it's 12"x15". I think I can come up with something to upgrade the plaque before sending it on next year. That one has traveled quite a few miles and should be retired.

Nobodys at fault except the shipper who may have used the box as a wheel chock.

Given the weather this week, I was thinking it might have been used as a traction assist device...

I'll look at work anyway, if I have 1 I can see what it'll cost to send.

I'll come up with something, maybe we can have some fun with it and all make some decisions in a SOTY plaque restoration thread?
