Ok so im not sure if "motor well" is the correct term but the area by the engine above floor where water will overflow up when you stop or slow down will not drain. I can feel a screen or filter in the hole when I put my finger in it and see some light if I shine a light thru, but the motor that is on boat "1989 glasstream 17v" is patially blocking that hole. What should I do. Just leave it and manually bail it or try to drill hole larger.

Any help appreciated. THANX

Pics always help us to help you. Can you remove the screen? Where does the drain end?

I have to do some guessing. You have an outboard and the mounting bracket is blocking the bilge drain or a live well fill and drain (the screen leads me that way).

Whatever it is, you are working at sinking your boat. Do you have a working bilge pump?

Ayuh,.... I could never understand Why they put the splash-well drain hole, Dead center where the motor mounts,....

It wouldn't take much to put in another, or two to the sides of the motor, but still in the splash-well,...

NO NO NO this area is a area built into the fiberglass top of the boat. The water is not in bottom of boat by the bilge, which is workin fine by the way, this is above deck just in front of engine. Im gonna try and het a pic in a minute.

Yup, that's called the "SplashWell". Like I said, use a long screwdriver from the inside and Poke out that screen. Or a stick or whatever it takes. No reason for the screen to be there. If you remove it, I'm pretty sure your drainage issues will be resolved.

Thanks for the clarification and the pic. Those are usually open with no screen, in fact it makes little sense to have a screen. Is it possible to have some debris inside the drain?
