Good Evening everyone,
I bought a 1993 fourwinns 190 Candia. I have some wiring issues under the instrument cluster that need help really bad. I wish that was the worst of it though. So I took it out today for only the second time. I couldnt get it to crank due to my kid turning the key and leaving it in ACC all night. So had to get a jump at the dock which was not as I thought it would go. I had to take the flame arrestor off and close carb flap to "choke" then it cranked. After that all was good in the world. We rode up and down the lake with the boys and checking out the beautiful day. After slowing down to get a picture of Death Valley in Clemson I powered forward and noticed that I had the throttle all the way down, the rpms were at 3500, and I was no where near moving like I should be. I couldnt even get to plane. So I asked the wife to grab the wheel and I opened up the engine Compartment.
I pulled the hose off that runs from the oil cap to the flame arrestor. I pulled the side coming from the flame arrestor. I put my finger over it and it felt like steam. I looked down at the carb and there was moisture all over it. Now as soon as I pulled the hose off we sped up and planed like normal. We took off and headed to the ramp. I stayed in the back and watched while keeping my hands on the hoses. I pulled the cap off the oil and couldnt see oil in there, but notice the white milky residue inside the cap, and only there. I wiped the white off and told the wife to turn the motor off just in case I had water in the oil. Didnt want to lock up. I let the boat drift for approx 10 mins and I pulled the dipstick. To my surprise there was nothing but clean oil and the right amount to boot. So I became perplexed, and decided it might be ok to mtor to the ramp. The wife cranked up and took off. As befor couldnt plane or even get going over maybe 5mph. RPMS 3500. Only this time the flame arrestor is off . Hose from OIL cap is still spewing steam, but now I notice in the back of the motor there is a cylinder with 4 hoses coming off that is spraying cold water. I look at the gauges to see if water temp is rising. It isnt, but the oil pressure shoots to 80. This thing is spraying so much water that it is everywhere. I am assuming this is the oil cooler. I was able to push the end back on that popped off. Not a hose but the end of this thing. I pushed back on and held with my hand until we get to dock. Now all this time I have no issue in idle or at any speed in low .

Any ideas? I am at a loss. This is my first I/O. I am okay with the Outboards, and car motors. I kinda thought this was just a marriage of this, but hard to pinpoint why the loss of power all of the sudden.

Please see pics above for reference.
I also uploaded a diagram. #41 is the part that came apart.

Here is a listing on ebay for the part that was spewing water. The right hand side where it looks to be put together is where it came apart. I dont think it has very high pressure becaue I held it together with my hands for the rids back. Looks to be soldered in the pic. I might try to resolder it or JBWELD it. Any thoughts?

Ayuh,..... That's the P/S Cooler, the in-comin' water from the drive passes through the bigger hoses, 'n the P/S return fluid passes through the little hoses,...

It no doubt split because water was left in it, 'n it froze,...
It, like everything else, Has to be Drained for winter,...

Ya might be able to solder it back together,....
I don't think I'd use epoxy though,...

Really? So you think it was split before I took it out? I wasnt spraying though. A new one is 350 bucks. So only option is to repair this one. Also there were lots of pieces of impeller inside this thing. I would say this thing is supposed to come apart to be cleaned? either way it ha to be fixed. Any idea on the loss of power and the steam coming from the the hose that connects to the flame arrestor?

Ayuh,..... It was no doubt cracked,.... the water pressure blew it apart,....

Normally, when changin' the impeller, you'd back-flush from the t-stat housin', 'n blow those old chunks of impeller out, the way they came in,....
Or,...
You'd remove the cooler, 'n clean it,....

The power loss, I'd guess crud, 'n water in the fuel system,....
The steam, 'n vapor comin' from the valve covers, to the flame arrester is normal combustion by-products,...
Blow-by always happens, 'n gets worse as the rings wear,...

Okay,
So when I took the tube from the valve cover from the flame arrestor and noticed the steam that was OK? That goes directly to the carb. Why would they design that to be ok? haha Okay so I had the same loss of power after removing flame arrestor . You think I already had to much water in there? Also if I manually move the throttle linkage while looking down the throat should I still see fuel spraying ? Even if the motor is off? I plan on a rebuild of the carb this week. That should help the water issue. I certainly appreciate your help, an dedication to the thread for me.
