steering cable length

OK so I'm adding a tilt tube to my boat ...it use to be a transom mount and cable directly to engine tiller ...original 14ft cable.....now I measured center of wheel to Grunwald close to 2 ft measures dash to rear 10ft measure rear Grunwald to center motor tiller arm just over 3ft so my dilemma is should I get a 15 ft cable or 16 ft...and for reference it is a rack o pinnoin steering system...thanks for the help..

Measures dash to rear 10ft. Measure rear gunwale to center motor tiller arm just over 3ft. So my dilemma is, should I get a 15 ft cable or 16 ft? ...and for reference it is a rack and pinion steering system...thanks for the help..

I've 'adjusted' the quoted text so it make a bit more sense. It this right?

If so, 16ft is what you need. (From the teleflex site: Add all those dimensions^^, add 6" and round up to the next foot)...
