Buddy of mine just picked up this old Duratech and I need to install some sort of drain plug in it. Any preference to what style to use? 5200 for sealant? Thanks.

I wood just go to Walmart and buy a $2.00 drain plug. Buy two so you have a spare.

I understand what your asking for and I would certainly go with a standard 1" (ID) threaded through-hull METAL type drain. And apply some 5200 around the threads and install. I don't trust any plastic drain but that is just me... JMHO!

Any problems with what metal to use, brass or stainless? I would assume stainless to be safer on the aluminum. I'dd through bolt it with SS machine screws and lock nuts on the inside of the hull.

I'm sorry I miss read. To install one I'd use brass and do as above.

A word of caution here.....do not use brass and aluminum together. These two metals will cause electrolosis and the aluminum will get eaten away. Some have had limited success by using a barrier between the two metals but with time the aluminum will weaken and dissolve. A chemical reaction will take place so for aluminum please use stainless steel, unless the brass has a heavy coating of chrome on it but even then.............
