Ok, just picked up a fiberform 2850, 1978. Has a bb merc (454) with a vdrive setup. I got the boat for nothing. I was told the motor was running great, but then sat, for two years. We'll when I pulled the dipstick it definitely had water in it. I'm wondering if it's even worth draining the oil and refilling it. Something probably cracked. Anyway, I have a 4.3 v6 out of a 93 dixie 24 foot walkaround. Great running, rebuilt (by me) motor it would literally take me a half an hour to get the 454 out. It's a single engine boat so there is gobs and gobs of room. I know it's going to be a dog. I'm fine with that. Dont even really care if it planes off. Anyway, I'm not sure what kind of vdrive it has, but what would I have to do to bolt this motor up ? Anyone know how different the bolt patterns are between a 454 and A 4.3 ? Me getting this boat hinges on what I have to do to make it work. Thanks in advance guys.

Replace a 7.4 with a 4.3, no don't do it. Even if you actually believe it will be OK to move along a trolling speed, you will never sell it. You will need to move your front motor mounts
