It's rated for 60. Anyone know approximately how fast that boat would go with 2 people and gear would equal 400lbs. 4500 feet elevation. Late model 4 stroke in either 30-40-50 hp. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Seems a wide range of HPs to be trying to estimate speed.

A 57 Viking is similar to a Starcraft Jet closed bow, i think its a 14ft. Might be a heavier gauge of aluminum and thus a heavier boat then a Starcraft

Whats the hurry. Most vintage boats are used for cruising, not speed trials...

And yep, rated for a 60hp.

IMO you and your friend would do best w a great running 1980s Johnson motor w tilt and trim, in a 50hp.

It's 14 ft. He not trying to race just wants to make sure it can get up on plane and motor along. Thanks

My 1964 Starcraft Dart 14ft aluminum closed bow runabout goes quite well with the 1989 Johnson 40 VRO I have on it. Rated for a 40. Goes about 40-45kmh - instantly on plane.

In comparison, its a fairly light weight tinny, it'll get up on plane easily w a 35hp if its not overloaded.
