I just bought a pretty decent Celebrity 210. Got it for a steal of a deal. But it has a couple things i need to fix and a couple questions.

- First off the boat is a 210, but the title says 21'8". Wouldn't that make it a 220 or a 22' boat?

- How much hp is the 5.8 carburated make?

- My trim button is working, but my tilt is not, is there a common issue with this, or do i just need to start digging in?

- Also my Trim indicator isnt working, any leads there?

- My tach is not working, any leads there?

- What prop setup should i look at? It has a beat up set on the boat, and another larger set stored in the back of the boat im planning on installing. What kind of speed should i expect?

The boat is really solid, only the bottoms of the rear seat and the bottom of the engine cover need replaced. Everything else seems really solid. The motor has 750 hours on it and starts right up. Idles smooth.

Thanks for the help in advance.

I think I can help with the tilt and trim sensor. There are like black buttons on ether side of the out drive. One raises and lowers the motor and one tells you the position of the motor, a sensor and a sender. Wires go through the transom. I would trace those wires and see if they are unplugged or cut. Keep in mind there are trim tabs on the boat and then there is trim that tilts the motor up and down, the gauge in the boat tells you how far the motor is up. On the same button for the motor trim there is a out position that will bring the motor out of the water for the trailer.

Not a lot of information here, sorry, but its a start.

The trim sender and sensor wires on my celebrity 200, had the insulation all corroded off them and they were touching, causing them to not always work. Good point from the last post. Check that first.

Trim works fine on the boat. Its only the Tilt that is the issue. I will check the lower unit for buttons.

Sounds like a 21' boat to me, I wouldn't worry about what length the title says - who know where that number came from. If you really want to know you could measure it.

It's most likely me but you are confusing me. The tilt and trim are the same. There are trim tabs that will level the boat while under power that are different from the motor trim. I think this is the trim you say that is working? The tilt is the same button as the trim for the motor it will just keep lifting the motor up and out depending on how long you hold it, in my case the switch has two setting, one will trim the motor and one will bring it out when on the trailer. Not sure if I'm helping or just getting lost in details, lol.

I had a Celebrity with Mercuiser/Bravo outdrive, I think the shifter was a Commander series , there is a separate button on lower right side of shifter panel cover that you use for the trailer position.

Just in case you may have missed it

My boat has different trim/tilt buttons. With your hand on the throttle, the up down buttons that are pointing to the inside of the boat are trim, the buttons pointing to the outside of the boat are the tilt. This is on the throttle lever itself.

The model is a 210 and the length is whatever length the manufacturer made 210's... In this case likely 21'8"....
There is no rule or law that says the model number HAS to be exactly the length x 10

Don't waste your time looking for buttons on the drive.... What roffey is calling buttons first off are a sender and a limit switch and second are on a mercruiser....

Even IF the problem was with with a trim limit switch you would have the opposite problem of your issue. IE the tilt would work and the trim wouldn't.

I am not familiar with your boat but generally the tilt up switch simply bypasses the trim limit switch... On some of them you have to press the trim up and tilt switches at the same time tho generally that was on older stuff.

So. Lets start with the gauge, It seems to work, because it flickers to the top position from pegged out when i turn the key on. But doesnt move when i trim down. Again tilt doesnt work at all. Im going to pull the trim sensor and manualy move it to see if its working. Is there a way to test this? I assume if the sensor isnt working, then it may not be allowing me to tilt? and only trim?

Any luck with the tach issue? I have the same boat and found a module tucked under the dash that receives the signal from the distributor but cant seem to find any info for this module. If you find anything out, please let me know

That's the truth. My Carver is the most extreme example I've seen. It's a '26 Command Bridge' with a big number 26 on each side of the flybridge. My NY title says it's 28', and Carver's own specs put the total length of the boat (with swim platform and bow pulpit) at 29' 11". The year after they made mine, Carver changed the name of it to '28 Sedan Bridge', with NO other changes to the boat... except that they replaced the big numbers on the flybridge.
