Re: Thanks for the help.

thank you to everyone who helped, and to i boats, com for sponsering this site. i was hard headed and shade tree mechanic, Don S. taught me that you can't shade tree a Mercruiser. a special thanks to Don S. for allowing me to email him picture i couldn't post (computer midget). and for his patience when i would try to shade tree it, and it didn't work. i finally gave in and did it right the second time.

Re: Thanks for the help.

Thanks to all who have helped me so far on my restoration or should I say resurrection :D of my Starcraft. She’s slowly coming along and I’m thinking of documenting my work and posting it on a website to share with anyone who might be going through the same stuff I am just to give a little back to the forum. I wish I knew you folks were around when I restored my other boats, it sure would have made things a lot easier.

Re: Thanks for the help.

The people who make up this forum are simply awesome. I learn so much from reading other peoples post and problems. I have one simple suggestion that would help me and possibly others. When you start a topic, if you could show some info as to what boat or engine you have it would be great. I know there is a limited amount of space for the topics title, however for example seeing-" poor engine performance 1990 OMC 4.3" would be better than seeing "boat running bad please help".We know your boat is running bad, but give us a clue so those who know your boat can help. If I can't offer advise rather I am trying to learn more about my own boat, it would help greatly to know in the title what boat was going to be discussed. It would also benefit someone that could give advice. Like if I were a Merc person, I'd be more inclined to click on the post if it included Merc in the topic. I am just saying that some of us need to put more info in our Title or Topic line. I know this is a topic to thank everyone who has helped me. LouC, DonS,AJ, Bondo, Lakelivin and anyone else I may not remember at this time, THANKS!! Oh Yeh, Thank you BoatGrunt for the pics you placed recently of your boat without the drive on which showed the bellows, bellcrank and shift cable guide, I learned allot from that topic as I have to do the same thing soon. Thanks to everyone who makes up this invaluable forum. Donwonnc

thanks fendersfender for the info about stainless bolts. I did not know that. It certainly explains why the bolt broke so easy.
Shawn Mahoney

Re: Thanks for the help.

I'd like to take this opportunity to let everyone know what a great guy Bondo is. He shipped me a used distributor and asked for the cost of shipping and a donation. I could have paid the shipping and sent it back if I didn't want or need it. I hope what I sent him is acceptable. There really are honest/trusting people in the world still. This is the kind of guy I would love to have as a neighbor and not just because he is a boat guru.

Oh and one more thing he also said as part of the deal I have to (probably would anyway) help someone out in need. So here I am. I may not be the smartest guy here but I do know a little about a lot.

DougV>

Re: Thanks for the help.

I am so impressed with Iboats and with the knowledgeable fellas here. I have turned my brother-in-law and sister on to Iboats forums an am sure that I will meet other people that need advice so I will do the same. I must say, Don S and many others were the only reason I didnt sell my project boat and give up on boats (Like my father has) long ago. Think of it this way Don, Bondo, Dunaruna , KaGee , and many more, I will pass the knowledge that yall gave me along to my son (And I pray I have one!) So you fellas have just created a future line of boaters that never would have been! Thanks!
