In the water no go in reverse
But in the driveway go without problems
Before this happen the idle was little high 1200 rpm.
Because had idle problem.
I disconnect the shift cable and trying move to reverse I feel a resistance as if compressing a spring and not locked
Any idea guys

Is there a grinding sound when you try to put it in reverse while in the water? If so you might want to check the shift rod to make sure it is properly aligned. To do this disconnect the upper shift rod from the lower shift rod. Manually shift the lower shift all the way up and verify it engages by manually turning on the prop clockwise. If you cannot turn it then it engages. Using a marker mark the lower shift rod position. Now manually shift it back all the way down and verify it engages. If it does, mark the setting again. In between the two markings midpoint is the neutral. Place the lower shift rod in neutral. Now reconnect the upper shift rod and shift the control lever into forward gear idle position, check the position of the lower shift rod in reference to the previous marking you made, is it aligned? Do the same with the reverse position and also with the neutral position. Any misalignment, make adjustments to match previous markings made.

Minor or little adjustments can be made with the thread linked between the upper and lower shift rods. Otherwise, you will have to make adjustments with the shift adjustment located under the carbs.

The grinding sound indicate two things, either the idle rpm is too high and you smooth into shifting into gear or the shift rod is misadjusted. My money is on the latter. Try doing the adjustment discussed earlier first and see if that will correct the problem. Try avoiding shifting in slow motion instead you should be a little bit snappy when going into gear both in fwd and rev. The grinding if not prevented can actually wear out the clutch dog thus making the clutch slip under load.

You have a mercury designed lower unit. Instead of a push-pull shift rod it uses a rotating rod. Did you recently replace a water pump impeller? Did you for any reason drop the lower unit? If so, the splines on the shift rod are out of alignment.
Or, is this something that suddenly occurred after trouble free operation for a while?

I have a shift rod like this I can see the splines out the lower unit
I disconnect the shift cable and try to move the shifter link but can't leave in neutral something pushing back to forward
