Re: f--inscreenname, check it out
Look closely. Its obviously a "bubble back" crossflow. The ignition they have on the motor was last used in 1979. The first "bubble back" V6 was made in 1978 and was a 235.

The hood is for a Johnson. The motor is not a Johnson.

The hood says VRO. There is no oil injection pump of any kind on the motor. It has fuel pumps. Clearly pictured.

He claims it to be a 1991 235. OMC didnt make a 235 in 1991.

Technically the motor is not even an outboard. Its a Sea Drive.

Sea Drives were equipped with 35 amp alternators. This one has a 10 amp. Which leads back to the early 235 made in 78 and 79.

He claims it was rebuilt. It seems odd that someone went to all the trouble to rebuild the motor and painted the block red. Unless the block wasnt painted and the original paint flaked off and the red primer is showing thru. Very common for the OMC motors in the late 70's.

He's using an old powerhead on a Sea Drive mid section with a Johnson hood. I'm not saying it wont work because it will. Im saying he has misrepresented the powerplant.

So what else is he misrepresenting? If he fudges the truth about the motor, which can be verifed visually, hes most likely fudging the truth about the hulls condition which cant be verified visually. Not the cosmetic mess but the condition of the stringers and transom.
